In Shenandoah, a man named Clark, returning from a saloon where cards were played, was shot at by three assailants. Two bullets hit him, one the abdomen and one the head, leaving him in critical condition as the killers remain at large. A second incident saw Mabid fire twice in a third avenue saloon quarrel, mortally wounding spectator E. A. Smith. International Societies plan a mass meeting in Tompkins Square next Thursday to press for government jobs for unemployed mechanics.
A German man was found dead on Union Avenue about a mile from the city this morning. He is believed to have died from exposure and starvation.
A forecast indicates a rising barometer tonight into Monday from the Northwest to the Eastern gulf and East toward the Atlantic with westerly to northwesterly winds and clearing weather likely turning brisk and high. Northwesterly winds expected tonight from Chesapeake Bay northeastward over Maine. A fall in the barometer is expected over the Western Gulf States tonight with southerly to easterly winds. No dangerous winds anticipated for the Atlantic and gulf coasts tonight.
