Eden park eviction set by committee

A neighborhood committee will visit the elderly resident of an Eden park dwelling and request him to evacuate. Numerous local items follow including a St Xavier’s College commencement at Mozart Hall and a big music event at Hiden Park with free admission by Germania Band.

A New Theater Project Planned at Ninth and Plum

Mr. Joan Robinson will begin next month to erect a theater and museum on the northeast corner of Ninth and Plum streets. The basement will be built to house the menagerie in winters as part of the plan. Hon. R. M. Conwine arrived in the city yesterday. Hon. James M. Ashley of Toledo was here yesterday with no political significance attached to the visit. Mrs. Lavza DeForce Gorpon of California is making a brief sojourn in the city.

Fall of a Building on Eighth Street Near Main

About 10 o’clock today workers tearing down an old two story frame building on Eighth street near Main caused a collapse injuring one man. The contract was awarded to E. C. Crofton as the lowest bidder.

Jim Lyons Arrest Recorded After October Escape

The arrest follows the escape of the notorious Jim Lyons from a mob near Second Street and Broadway in October. He was apprehended this morning around sunrise by Officer Fortman while walking on Broadway between Front and Second streets.

Cincinnati Presbytery Adjourns and Announces Calls

The adjourned session of the Cincinnati Presbytery met at Poplar Street Church. Rev. Joseph Gamble accepted a call from Wyoming church. his relations with his church were dissolved at his request. Rev. A E Garrison accepted Cleves church. his elder J Scott Harrison announced fall installation services. Dr. Thomas of Rome attended as corresponding member and spoke on Italian Protestant claims. Also announced were deaths of Rev. Robt. Crossette and son of Rev. Lichtenstein. Parry concert at Welsh Presbyterian Church attracted a full audience with a strong program by Mr. Joseph Parry and Miss Lizzie Parry James.

Police Court Docket Shows Fines for Multiple Offenses

Dennis O Rourke fined 10 dollars for wagon collision and 25 dollars plus costs for a second offense on Lebanon road. John O Gary fined 10 dollars and costs for improper behavior in a Pendleton car. Nugent Langenheimer jailed for assaulting his family but discharged after a fault by the wife. son John Meyer spared after striking him with a chair leg. William Black fined 5 dollars and costs for striking a colored girl. Joseph McKeener known as Big Joe, 17, leader of Red Eye Club, jailed three months for drunkenness after resisting officers. John Thompson colored fined 9 1 2 days in Work-house for disorderly conduct. John Skelton sent to Work-house for one month. James R Stichberg fined 10 dollars and costs for beating his wife.

Health Board orders cellar inspections citywide

The Board of Health adopted a resolution to have sanitary police inspect every cellar and to ask the Mayor to use day police to help. The cellar at 48 East Pearl Street was reported a nuisance. Mr. L. Bogardus and Mr. D. F. Meader assisted in visiting the site. Police made 8 arrests last night.

The river is falling from Pittsburg to the mouth with less than 8 feet in the channel at present and rain is possible.
