Daniel Mc Williams, 38, a Pittsburg native and dissolute paper hanger, died after a morning quarrel in a boarding house at No 88 East Front street between Broadway and Ludlow. A friend, unnamed, struck him in the mouth. a struggle followed and he was thrown injuring him in the stomach. A post mortem will be held and a verdict expected tomorrow.
On Monday a docket of 59 old and 9 continued cases lists 76 names. Offenses include assault and battery, cutting with intent to kill, malicious destruction, petty larceny, abusing family, vagrancy, loitering, drunkenness, and selling skimmed milk. Several cases were continued or discharged with conditions or fines.
James Basquell and Miss Mary Flanagan planned marriage at Archbishop Purcell residence on Eight street. Mrs Hannan attacked with a knife, Basquell warded blows then struck Mrs Hannan in defense. Far Henry posted bail at Ninth street Station. Basquell and Flanagan wed soon after. judge released Basquell this morning and he obtained a warrant for Mrs Hannan.
June 10 market notes show wheat firm with July and August futures quoted around 1 50 to 1 54 per bushel and oats dull. Hog receipts about 6 100 with active, firm prices near 3 50 to 4 05 per cwt. pork at 13 37, lard quiet but firm. In New York, wheat 1 14 to 1 15 6d, flour steady. sugar firm with fair demand. linseed oil steady at 9 to 9 1/2c per pound. copper and other items noted with varying quotes.
