The Imperial Train with the Grand Duke arrived in Cheyenne at 10:15 AM to a happy welcome. A brass band from Fort D. A. Russell performed on the depot grounds as the Denver Road delivered the party around 11. A rear car derailment caused slight damage and delayed departure until 12:45 PM for Denver. He plans a visit to Denver and will stay two days.
The Masonic Grand Lodge convened in Newark New Jersey on January 18 for a three to four day session. The key issue is whether colored men will continue to be denied the privilege of joining as Masons in the Newark area.
The Grand Duke Lieutenant General Sheri dan and party returned yesterday from a grand buffalo hunt on the plains. They killed twenty four buffaloes during the day’s exciting pursuit.
Kansas City January 17. A western bound North Missouri Railroad passenger train was thrown from the track near Camden after striking a cow. Three coaches were smashed to splinters and several passengers were badly hurt though none killed.
In Iowa the House rejected a newspaper appropriation after a lengthy debate and plans to oppose funding for Senate ordered papers. Lawmakers also banned smoking in Capitol halls and lobbies.
