A ten o'clock explosion at the Miami Powder Company works five miles north of town destroyed a mill and four others in quick succession. Four men were killed, one mortally wounded, and another severely injured. Names of the dead include Mero Ballard Rob inson and Conly, with Conly blown to fragments. Rescue and search efforts continued as fires consumed debris. reports said the loss amount was not yet known. The blast was felt in Spring field Dayton and Urbana. Duncan, a colored worker, was severely injured with death momentarily expected.

The judge sentenced him to $100 fine and six months imprisonment, deeming the offense a blow to society.
Boston reports Albert B. Rogers manager of the delivery department at Western Union Telegraph Company fled after pilfering small sums over time. He left about ten days ago, lived extravagantly, and was part owner of a negro minstrel troupe.
