James Stough, drinking heavily, attacked his wife Mrs. Stough with a large clasp knife at their Richmond Kentucky home. He stabbed her fifteen to twenty times before neighbors found her dying. She identified him as her murderer before she died, jealousy named as the origin of the crime.

In a second case H B Scott sues as Diamond Mill Co foreman for 600 dollars earned in six months prior to assignment. court clarifies preferred claim rules under the 1961 act and allows up to 100 dollars for foreman wages, not secretary or clerk wages.
A copy of a letter direction sent by the Cincinnati Post office. It requests to forward a parcel to Packenham West Canada for a farmer named William Scott Jr. living near Cedar Hill four miles from town, described as honest and thrifty, asking the postman to deliver when found as described.

The examining trial of James Chrystal and Henry Stahl for the Jacob Ott murder ended with Stahl discharged and Chrystal admitted to bail. A fetus was found on North Broadway this morning indicating a birth on the spot. A fatal affray at Headly's distillery left James Lewis mortally wounded yesterday.
In New York on February 2, Dutch Heinrichs a known burglar and bondholder was arrested for stealing $33,000 in bonds from Henry M. Baker’s Cedar Street office on the 15th ultimo. He was arraigned at the Toombs where examination continues. Henry Smith president of Bowling Green Savings Bank reports assets at $442,411.42 liabilities $460,184.57 with a $17,773 deficiency, pledged that depositors will not lose any funds as trustees will cover the shortfall.
Memphis February 2 no arrivals reported light snow fell overnight and the river dropped seven inches. A train incident on the Memphis & Charleston near Huntsville involved sleeping car conductor Trice who struck Gen D B Maury with an iron poker during a disputed story. Maury was knocked down but not fatally hurt.
Captain James Haughton a famed steamboat pilot on the Upper Mississippi and Minnesota rivers died at his St Paul residence yesterday morning. Weather was clear and cold with twelve degrees below zero at seven o clock A M.
