GhorGtia Savannah Ga August 6 The News of the 2d Inst in an editorial on the State debt says the Legislature should repudiate every dollar of the illegal bond issue by the late carpet-bag administration regardless of clamor about repudiation and dishonored credit. Such action is due the taxpayers of Georgia and is the only sure way to preserve the State credit unimpeached.
An explosion at John Casey’s turpentine factory on Commerce and Richard streets started a blaze that consumed the building stock and machinery, total loss estimated at 20 000 dollars. Several occupants escaped injury by narrow margins, and the loss is partly insured.
Philadelphia reports an early morning railway accident on the Camden and Amboy railway at Kingcorn. A standing train was struck by the Trenton train causing serious injuries to a brakeman and a child and delaying morning services.
