Woman Charged In Auto Homicide Case At Middletown
Superior court this morning heard to be made in the case of Miss Gildersleeve of Portland charged with homicide in the death of Daniel McCarthy at Middletown last March. State's Attorney Alling summarized the evidence and noted the driver stopped, then abandoned the scene due to weather, with speed unlikely to exceed ten to fifteen miles per hour. The case, first against a woman for automobile homicide here, remains unsettled as defense and prosecution argued over negligence and duty to stop.
