Graduation exercises are held at 8 pm with an interesting program. Miss Gladys Lawton of Middletown directs singing and supervision. Addresses will be given and tickets distributed among scholars. Several locals and guests are noted, with announcements of future vacations and conventions. Strawberry supper at the Swedish Lutheran church Thursday evening. Everyone is welcome.
Deep River june events highlight gatherings of Hartford and New York visitors, with numerous hometown trips. The eighth grade graduation and class of 1918 exercises fill the town hall, plans for July 4th parade, and a vaudeville dance at town hall feature Giacoma and Neil Patterson.
Middlefield notes graduation exercises conducted Thursday at 2:30 in the town hall. Rockfall school opened with Marseillaise, then recitations and piano solos by Emily Limer Kathryn Smith Dorothy Francisco and Charles Trischman. Certificates presented by D C Lates. Graduates listed include Wesley Dorothy Francisco Robert Harris Winfield Hawkes Ruby Keny i Limer, Carl Olson Kathryn John Steffffman and Charles Miss Alma Lyman has returned to Hemstead, L. L. for two weeks.
Instructions describe placing fresh cherries in sterilized jars, filling with hot syrup, and half sealing while processing in a container for twenty minutes. Syrup ratio is one cup sugar to one and a half cups water, boil four minutes.
The Killingworth Democratic caucus met at Grange hall with 123 attendees. Delegates named include Arthur E. Parmelee, Herbert C. Stevens, Henry B. Stevens, Charles H. Chittenden for state and county offices, with several others for congressional and senatorial posts. The town committee elected for two years comprises Arthur E. Parmelee, Cleveland P. epitome, and Charles H. Chittenden. Extra notes report Miss Ada M. Griswold’s new job in Beach Park, Albert Walker from Camp Upton visiting, and Rev. A. B. Gifford preaching. Mrs. Lillie Griswold sold her farm to Raymond Griswold.
Hebron residents prepare for a war rally at the town hall on Thursday evening. Local social notes list Miss Eleanor P. Lord closing her Ellington school for the summer, visits by Miss Helen Gilbert, Miss Eva Jones from Hartford, and Mrs. Forrest Ackley visiting Mrs. Carpenter in Willimantic. Fannie Dixon Welch of Columbia plans to attend a Red Cross meeting at Miss Kellogg's home and address attendees. Barnum and Bailey circus trip to Hartford noted. Rev. M. Deeler and wife return from Pennsylvania. Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Raymond and family of New Britain guests of the Lords.

Hamburg June 18 There will be a War Savings rally in the Public hall Hamburg Tuesday evening June 25 at 830 under the aus pices of the State Council of Defense. Everybody is welcome. Miss Marguerite Ely a Smith College student and Miss Ora Harding of Radcliffe College are home for summer. Gilbert Sterling and family Windsor Locks arrived for the summer. A Middlesex evening bill features Mary Pickford in Amarilly of Clothes Line Alley shot partly in San Francisco with a dramatic arc of laughter and pathos. The program also includes The Eagle's Eye and Current Events, plus a second double bill at Grand Theatre with June Caprice in A Camouflage Kiss and The Magnificent Muddle.
East Berlin notes regular P society meetings this evening. A Thrift War Stamps rally is planned in Athletic hall this Tuesday evening with speakers at each rally. Edward Krauth returns from furlough to Sandy Hook. Philo Dutton, now in the army, visits home. Five rallies for war savings stamps to be held in town next week. W H Nye undertakes extensive repairs to his residence.
