Textile workers plan eight hour day attack on Feb. 3
Thousands of textile workers nationwide threaten to walk out February 3 to press for an eight hour day despite manufacturers rejecting 48 hour week demands. The movement follows a New York workers convention and includes threats to leave mills if hours are not shortened. Mills warn of wage cuts and lay out plans to conference with management while some workers oppose the plan amid war order cancellations. In Lawrence Massachusetts, mill officials stockpile cots to accommodate nonparticipants.
