James Foley a New London patrolman of three months was arrested today on highway robbery charges. Held on $2000 bail for the superior court, he, with a provost guard member on duty, allegedly robbed restaurant owner James Rehill of $8 and a gold watch Tuesday night. Foley also possessed a revolver reported stolen from a burglary scene.

Hartford January 16 Governor Holcomb sent to the general assembly the nomination of Joseph W Alsop of Avon to a six year term on the public utilities commission beginning July 1 He had been filling an unexpired term Judge Isaac Wolfe was re nominated as judge of the Haven county common pleas court.
Michael Morozick of Lafayette street was sentenced by Judge James H. Webb to one to three years in state prison for assaulting Policeman Joseph Connelly on November 18. Morozick claimed intoxication at the time.
Hartford January 16 Governor Holcomb proposed Secretary of State Perry submit to the legislature next Tuesday the file of documents on the federal prohibition amendment. The action would automatically bring the amendment before the assembly for any decision it desires.

Boston reports two unidentified men suffocated in a top floor fire at a South End lodging house. The blaze trapped occupants as smoke filled hallways and stairs. The cause was not determined.
Forty persons were killed and many wounded in fresh fighting between Spartacides and government troops in Dusseldorf. Two thousand Spartacides barricaded themselves in buildings, terrorizing the city as British troops moved in to restore order and reportedly took control.

Miss Doris Patterson of Denver Colorado christened the 3 500 ton wooden cargo steamer Cuyos at the Groton Iron Works Noank ship yard. Patterson is a student at Connecticut College for Women.
