Boats Struggle Against Thick River Ice
The New York boat left Middle town dock on Sunday and did not reach Hartford until noon, forced through ice on the river. The Sachem works the ice at the river’s lower end and the Comet breaks it around here. Ice clogs the river, freezing fast after breaking, making future trips hard. Unless weather moderates, continued boat service may halt.
