Senatorial race roils Haddam and district wide
The 54th senatorial district in Middlesex County, excluding Iddletown, Middlefield, and Cromwell, sees three declared Republican candidates in a heated bid with a possible dark horse. Hazen of Haddam leads with war-time service and dry amendment stance, while Smith of Chester and Potter of Deep River are seen as plausible contenders with no clear dry or wet tilt. The Haddam nomination is debated, and delegates’ views on Prohibition will influence the convention as observers await the outcome.
