General Mary says American troops with British forces southeast of Ambral completed the capture of Vaux and Ten. St Scipie in the eastern sector gains a foothold. East of Cambrai British troops reach the villages of St Vaust and Stanhert.
The German grip in northern France loosens as Allied forces push the enemy back toward the Belgian frontier. Since the July offensives began, the Allies have gained up to forty five miles from Ancre to the wedge location, with twenty five miles more needed to reach the Belgian border near Maubeure.
The Associated Press reports General March states the American division that cleared the St Mihiel salient and prepared the Verdun advance includes the 89th division with units from Kansas Missouri Nebraska Colorado New Mexico and Arizona national army. The 91st division comprises Idaho Wyoming and Utah in American training arena.

Born October 7 1848 in La Crosse Wisconsin, he lived in Claude Texas for years as a photographer.
