Associated Press dispatch from London on May 4 reports Lloyd George warning of a great German attack. He spoke as the government awarded him the freedom of the city and commented on America’s preparation, noting US strength lag due to Russia’s collapse. He said prospects look hopeful for the Allied effort.
Paris May 24 An American escadrille of expert pilots will join the defense of Paris after the American aviation service chief offered aid and the government accepted the offer.
Prince Arthur of Connaught son of Duke Connaught and Starthem former governor general of Canada and cousin of King George arrived from England aboard a British cruiser at Atlantic Port on May 4.
Associated Press reports the Carrier Haine Pullman Company has been taken over by the government and will join a federal system for control. The official announcement confirms the nationalization aims.
The Carlsbad school eighth grade boys and girls practiced a week of self denial and gave the proceeds to the Red Cross. Teacher Mrs Stringham notes the pupils deprived themselves of candy ice cream and picture shows and donated their savings to the cause.

It appears to be part of an balance sheet or accounting statement labeled The Above Statement, page 18, but key figures and dates are missing. Grace Lusk testified she cannot remember the shooting that killed Mrs. Mary Roberts. She told the jury she did not intend to shoot and repeatedly cried out that she never did.

In Gall May 24 Associated Prone Chicaxe reports the case of Count James Kinotta. The Federal court of appeals declines to continue the fifty thousand dollar bond set for Kinotta. He remains held at Fort Sheridan while the matter is set for hearing on June 12.
Associated Press reports heavy fighting on the western front remains in a tense anticipatory phase. Both sides ready for shocks as German preparations and Allied resilience are noted amid a calm that cannot last, with morale described as weak for the enemy.
The wife of Captain M. OC. Brealey, sister of Mrs. E.R. Lee, arrived Thursday for a week or ten days. Captain Kaley commands a company at Fort Barry, coast artillery, San Francisco. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hartshorne at the old Macerman place in the lower vale.
At a luncheon Lloyd George warned of a race between Hindenburg and President Wilson as Germany presses for its goal before American support to the Allies. He claimed evidence of a conspiracy for an uprising in Ireland and said the Nationalist party had no involvement.
Mrs. Hines and Misa Lola left last Saturday for Pecos. Misa Lola is a member of the class of 1918, and her mother traveled from there to be in attendance at the commencement.
Mrs HOP Christian, treasurer of the local chapter, received a $25 check from J. M. Pardue of Mineral Wells Texas. The donation was promptly turned over to the Red Cross and thanks have been sent for his liberality.
