The Associated Press reports Washington May 11 that over 1.3 million men have been drafted or called to service in France or for deployment before June, with monthly mobilization continuing through summer and fall. The army may reach about three million in a year and could approach five million.
Associated Press reports from London on May 11 that German forces dispatch Bavarian cavalry from Flanders toward Ukrania. Dispatches from Liege Belgium confirm fighting to resume in Ukraina with Bavarian detachments arriving there.
Forecast notes a generally fair night with colder readings in the southeast and extreme northeast. Heavy frost is expected in the northern portion, while Sunday should bring fair conditions.
Paris reports heavy artillery duels on the Amiens front around Grivennes and Nollryreval with the French gaining ground on the southern Picardy flank near Orvillers Sorel and south of Mont Didier. German forces bombard allied lines in Flanders and Somme while repulsing local attacks near Voormereele La Clythe and Avelny wood as Berlin claims a general repulse.
