Body of Newport Boy Comes From France
The first American soldier buried in France from Newport arrived Tuesday evening from New York. Lawrence Henry Bean, 21, son of Mrs. Henry Bean, enlisted in the Marine service in June 1918. He trained at Paris Island and Suffolk, sailed for France in September with the Sixth COY, fell ill at Brest with pleuro pneumonia, died at a Red Cross hospital, and was buried at Brest. He leaves his mother and five siblings. Funeral at First Baptist Church Fire Moon at two with military honors, burial in Newport Center.

Forestry group plants 32000 brook trout in Caledonia streams
About 32 000 brook trout fry were released in Caledonia County streams on Tuesday by the Caledonia County Forest and Stream Club with U S Fish Hatchery staff. Troops and two Boy Scout units aided, distributing four cans per car to popular local brooks. Some fish may reach streams if at least half survive, estimated at 16000 usable by anglers.
