Two children burned in Wareham home on Codman's Point
A fire at Manuel Lopes's Codman's Point home in Wareham Massachusetts killed two of his children while Lopes saved his ill wife and four other children. The blaze destroyed the residence as neighbors checked for other victims and investigators began inquiries.

Freight Wreck Paralyzes South Littleton Mountain Road
A freight wreck in South Littleton New Hampshire disrupted the mountain road for hours after twelve cars derailed at high speed. One car struck far from the rails and lost its trucks while others carried weathered goods. Two people were killed and several injured as more than a dozen cars carried leather, paper, and horses en route to Kimball and Nutter of Woodsville and Ham of the Fourteen in.
