Narrow Escape In Newport Auto Crash
George Wells of Derby Center, an employee of Hood's Creamery in Newport, narrowly escaped serious injuries when knocked from the running board of a Ford driven by BE J. Hunt of East Side. Wells suffered facial cuts, two teeth knocked out, and a shaken frame. He was treated at home by Dr. H. B. Somers and returned to Derby later, as Hunt’s car followed at speed with a party from St Johnsbury.

Newport woman extricated from fish can entrapment
An incident at St News port yesterday involved a neighbor trying to rescue a woman trapped by a fish can. Several men attempted to help without success until Lond, foreman of the Express and Standard, lifted the can and freed her. Mrs Lord said she had used the method before.
