Marines Repel Bandit Attack in Port-au-Prince

Newport Lawyer Ward Prouty Found Guilty of Disturbing Peace
In Orleans County Court at Newport, Ward Prouty, noted Newport attorney and son of Hon. C. A. Prouty, was found guilty of disturbing the peace after a jury deliberated about three hours. The jury ruled he struck his mother-in-law, Ida Blair, on September 1. Prouty testified he attempted to remove his mother-in-law from the home and denied assaulting her. The case, State v Ward Prouty, opened with heavy jury selection and was expected to conclude that afternoon.
