Housing Conditions Hold Up Publicity in Newport
Members of the Newport Chamber of Commerce Publicity Committee met in the YMCA rooms to plan advertising for the city. Chairman John R. Akin, who was preparing to depart for Boston for a hardware dealers convention, led the session with Donald J. Emo and Wallace Gilpin among others. They agreed that relief of Newport’s housing crisis must come first before broad campaigns. Editor Richard J. Howe was elected clerk of the committee.
