North and South Carolina Ry Co seeks land in Marion County

Marlboro Boy Wins Prize in State Cereal Growers Contest

A Marlboro County lad, A. Ba Usher of Brightsville Township, produced 152 1/2 bushels per acre in the State Cereal Growers contest, beating many adult farmers. He earned first prize with 137 3/8 bushels, using seed from last year’s winner, keeping a full cultivation log, and spending $55 to grow and harvest a crop sold for $335. A bushel will be exhibited at the State Fair.
