Sunday night tragedy at mill village claims life of Elihu Blackwell
Young Stanley Hamilton aged 18 shot and killed Elihu Blackwell after an altercation over attention to a young lady of the mill village. Coroner's jury rules justifiable homicide. Blackwell, about 28, married with three children, died minutes after the shooting. Witnesses describe a confrontation with Hamilton and Blanton, a kinsman of Blackwell, earlier in the evening. The weapon was a .22 pistol. Hamilton was returning from the young lady’s home when the fatal shot was fired. Hamilton, son of Ira Hamilton, is described as a peaceful, hardworking youth living with his father.
