Governor Bleage issues proclamation voiding all notaries public commissions issued before January 21 1911 and asks the assembly to fix qualifications for the office He delays new appointments until a later message to the assembly clarifies the date changes to February 10 and press reports note the power of the office and need for governance officials auction of public notices and local civic events follow with mixed editorials and onlookers in Dillon and surrounding areas

Governor Blease commutes death sentence in South Carolina

Columbia Jan 10 special: Governor Bleuse commutes the death sentence of Ibn Poster Jkruss to life imprisonment. The man was to be hanged in Wittameburg county. Pendergrass was convicted of murder last year and the execution was set pending a memorial to the Supreme Court. Governor Blease cites his official commutation.
