Fifty years ago a village group drew teams and players for a local game. Names include Andrew Beker Frank Mathias Cisde Wright Sam Hatchins Leberge of the business Diller Cornet Band and Park Koons. A fire damaged equipment and a corn sheller was removed for a loss about fifty dollars during the event.
From the Jatius Preltwiz farm south of Fairbury reports a five acre field yielding 124 bushels per acre. Last year the field grew sweet clover. Locals Fred Starr Richard Huabe of Fairbury and Diller visitors John Friday from Kansas, and Mike Murray new buyer at the Bue Front Barn are noted attendees. The Gage County Fair in Beatrice ends tonight with WIBW radio entertainment and Huntington magicians on the program. The new German Lutheran church south west of Diller votes to build a parsonage for their pastor. JW Fouts sold an 160 acre farm five miles south of Diller for 8000 dollars.
Church notices report Sunday school worship and a youth group meeting led by Eva Green. James Harold Engler born June 29, 1947. Luther League held Sunday evenings with devotionals led by Naomi Weers and plans for a roller skating party in Fairbury. Beatrice golden anniversary Sept 24 1945 26 27 noted. Diller school adds eleventh grade. Beatrice Fairbury highway completed.
Esther Young leads morning worship at the Methodist Church. Sunday School hour at 4 pm with Keith Hays as superintendent. Youth Fellowship and choir practice in the parish room. Guest speaker from the Nebraska Conference attends a supper meeting for Sunday School teachers. Officers meet Tuesday at the church. Mrs Finch will display books pictures and supplies. bring sandwiches and a covered dish.
