From Diller Nebraska many small items fill a local column. Shoppers learn Nelsons offers mirrors while Blauser sells sewing machines. Odell resident Will Carmichael visits Diller and greets friends. Hogs for sale by Honest Abe sired Duroc Jerseys. A windmill project on AH Colman’s Chester farm is noted. Weiss Hart Co. hosts teachers meetings in Diller. Local lumber interest Edleman of Lincoln visits for a lumber deal. Patton paints advertised and homephone stock noted at Fairbury meeting.

Paul Kiskall born in 1824 in Germany emigrated to America in 1848 then settled in Pennsylvania Wisconsin and Nebraska. He died September 2 in his 80th year from senility at six miles south and one east of Diller where he lived with his wife three sons and two daughters. Funeral services were held from his late residence with burial in Lanham Cemetery under a Lutheran minister.

Diller public schools opened Monday with the High School under Principal Mrs. Anna K Ord and teachers Miss Bernice Welton in the Grate mar room, Miss Gertrude Lamb in the Intermediate room, and Miss Anna Benson in the Primary. Enrollment totals: 30, 20, 42, and 38 respectively, with plans for a large post holiday increase.
A clerk notes bills printed at his office advertising peaches for wholesale sale on a farm three miles south of Endicott. Prices depend on varieties chosen. W P Aylesworth, Chancellor of Corner University Bethany Nebraska, will preach at the Aggreve Church Sunday September 10 morning and evening. Everyone is invited.
Mrs John Zook and Mrs L M Cavett and children returned after visiting the former's parents in Hollenberg Kansas.
Mrs Paul Kiskall will hold a public sale of her late husband’s effects at her residence six miles south and one mile east of Diller tomorrow afternoon at one o clock. Bills for the sale were printed at this office.
Frank Lambert traveled to Lanham yesterday to assume a section on the B. and M. His family will visit Steele City briefly, then on Monday he will move their household goods to Lanham and establish their home there for a while.
The Pleas ant precinct Republican primary was held Wednesday in M Wright's store room. J T Briggs was elected chairman and O J May born secretary. Twelve delegates were chosen for the county convention at Fairbury next Saturday, listing names. A precinct ticket was nominated for Justice of the Peace, constables, road supervisors, and local district officials. Additional appointments and committee roles were proposed before adjournment.
The lifeless form of the months old child of Mr and Mrs Frank Cortney was found Friday afternoon in a closet vault at John Langworthys residence four miles north and one mile east of Diller. The child lay for three or four hours while searches continued. Grandparents Mr and Mrs E B Dewey had come from West Beatrice to visit and had brought the child. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon Rev Frank Milla officiating with interment at Prairie Home cemetery. The Dewey family and Nellie Cortney, mother of the child, are longtime former Diller residents.

The district court in Fairbury canceled the Diller village saloon license for Lot 8 Block 6 Original Town of Diller after finding 29 valid freeholders on the petition though 31 names were listed. Mrs May Thomas and J W Pagel were removed for lack of residency and identity proof.
Miss Blanche Crocker returns to the city where she has lived most of the time for two or three years. The First National Bank publishes today its first statement since converting from Peoples State Bank and makes a credible showing.
Dr J G Neely went to Colorado Sprite last Saturday and returned yesterday with his wife and Miss Maude Bell who had been in Colorado for several weeks to aid Mrs Neely's health, which has not improved.
Light Company Organized in Diller with J W Fouts as President and E L Loock as Vice President. Board includes Alex Bell W N Sparks J Blauser Thos P Price and A Mayborn. Capital is $5 000 and the project aims to light churches businesses homes and streets. Village trustees grant a twenty year franchise conditioned on providing two free lights to the board and completing the plant by December 1. Pipes will run in alleys to connect residences within town and within 150 feet of the outskirts as needed.
Scott Merrell and A. F. Smith from Fairbury today advocate for ex County Commissioner W. C. Line as a permissive candidate at the Fairbury convention tomorrow. The note suggests Line would be a strong choice for representative and that his consent to enter the race is acknowledged.

She alleges failure to provide maintenance and requests custody of their eight year old child Grace Duswine seeks relief as justice requires and a court order. Respondent must answer by September 26, 1904. attorney for plaintiff is W. H. Barrows.
