Nebraska opens 28 day pheasant season in open counties
The Nebraska game commission set a 28 day pheasant season from October 28 to November 19. Daily bag and possession limits are four cock pheasants with hunting hours from one half hour before sunrise to one hour before sunset. Open counties include Jefferson, Gage, Saline, and others with additional limits for doves quail grouse and raccoon possum seasons.

Attendance marked the Keystone Kensington fall meeting at Mrs Frazee's home. The president called the meeting to order as Mrs Earl Weigel led devotions. Minutes were read by Mrs Horsky and committee reports given. Food sale Sept 23 and Mission Study Sept 15 were announced at Mrs Ina Hill's home. Three new members joined: Mrs Pretzel, Mrs Smith, and Mrs Richard Steffen, plus guests Mrs Marion Logan and Eve Moorman. Mrs Long presented contests, Mrs Mayboro and Mrs Freitag won. Refreshments by Mrs Long, Mrs Calkies, and Mrs Allen closed the afternoon. The Diller American Legion Ladies Auxiliary met Friday night with picnic committee reports. The district convention is set for Milligan on Sept 6. A poll on Universal Military Training was approved for public vote. Sandwiches and coffee were served.

The American Legion Auxiliary of Diller reported a 2 to 1 majority in favor of universal military training for all young men. From 89 residents surveyed, 65 in favor, 20 against, and 4 undecided.
