Next Monday is Labor Day. Frank Cully drives a new Chevrolet. Verla Still near Ellis broke her arm last Saturday. Mr and Mrs R F Starr left Wednesday for Kearney to stay about a month.
The Diller Municipal band joined five other ensembles in a Sunday afternoon band festival at Fairbury, showcasing their performance skills alongside regional groups.
The ladies will hold a food sale at Waggoner Bros. store on Saturday afternoon and evening September 2.
Lloyd Green, son of H. H. Green, fell about eight feet from a platform in their garage and broke his left arm on Thursday forenoon.
Relatives and neighbors gathered Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Wenz to celebrate his birthday. Most of his children attended and, at a late hour, refreshments were served.

Earl Z a former Diller boy and brother of Mrs Sam Thompson of this city sustained a broken left arm broken rib and bruises Tuesday of last week while employed by the Dempsters at Beatrice. He expects to return to work on account of the injuries.

At the Lincoln district Sunday school meeting of the German Nebraska synod held at Johnson last week Rev. Duhrkopp of Johnson, former pastor at St Pauls Lutheran Diller, was elected president and Mies Emma Glathar of Diller was elected treasurer. Sixty five delegates attended and an illustrated lecture on Japan by a missionary on vacation was featured.
Last Friday evening Mr William Freitag hosted a birthday gathering at his Harbine home with children and spouses in attendance. The event featured homemade ice cream and cake along with several Freitag relatives including Gertrude and Evelyn Weyeran Elizabeth Will Bea Gace and Duane Freitag among others.
A farewell meeting honors ten local youths leaving for college. The Congregational church orchestra performs selections and a vocal duet by Gretchen Fanders and Cleo Green. Rev. Schindler and Rev. Mr. conduct Assy devotions during the service.

The 15th Blauser descendants reunion occurred August 27, 1983 at Diller city hall Nebraska with forty attendees despite bad weather. Attendees came from Greesteend N J Troy Lincoln Powell Beatrice and Helmsville. Two births and three deaths noted in the year including Stanley Roger Brauser Marline LaVaune Brauser Jesse E Friend James Hadley and J Vernon Miller.
Dr. and Mrs. Claude Ellis traveled to Lincoln on business on Wednesday and returned Thursday evening.
Mr and Mrs Adam Gretzi and daughter of the Steele area were seen renewing a record during a Steele visit.
Mr and Mrs Onka Lottman near Fairbury hosted Friday dinner guests including Mr and Mrs Gee Tjaden Lenox South Dakota and Kenneth Mains Norman Nebraska.
Miss Hazel Lottman daughter of Mrs C W of Shea Nebraska wed Floyd Goldsberry son of Mr and Mrs Oakley Goldsberry of Steele City Nebraska on Thursday August 24 in Belleville Kansas. Attendants were Miss Eleanor Filley and Wells Andrews. The couple plan to start housekeeping in the spring on Goldsberry farm near Steele City.
Miss Averil Fouts traveled Friday to Council Bluffs Iowa to consult a heart specialist for a long standing ailment in her health.
Donald Bugbee, who had spent part of the vacation season at his father D. A. Kee’s home in Rock Creek precinct, returned yesterday to Gering Nebraska where he has taught for some time.
The J N C The Jolly Neighbors club members and families held their annual picnic Wednesday of last week in Fink's park at Wymore. The ladies brought well filled baskets and a bounteous picnic dinner was enjoyed by all. The afternoon was spent in visiting and swimming and at four ice cream and cake were served. Messrs O Jes Hays and Mrs. Fern Diller of Beatrice were mentioned.
