Diller Couple Wed After Telegram Announcement

Wilbur Eick son of Mr and Mrs A A Eick and Betty Moore of Los Angeles were married after a Western Union telegram from Las Vegas Nevada noting the couple flew there and wed. Wilbur is a Diller native and Occidental Life Insurance employee in Los Angeles. Diller friends offer congratulations.

A Democratic rally in Diller under the county central committee was held but drew a tame and fair turnout. County and legislative candidates attended with Ray Moon introducing them. only Frank Wells and Geo. Skultery spoke, while attorney C. B. Ellis from Wymore delivered the main address.

Fire bug confesses to multiple Rock Island yard fires

Carl Belser a Rock Island night clerk and dope addict confessed to starting six fires in the Rock Island yards at Fairbury and was sent to the state reformatory after pleading guilty before Judge Essmore in Beatrice. Belser, employed by Rock Island for sixteen years, said he was under the influence of dope at the time.

Sheriff Ackman Hart Ackman Hurt in Cortland Collision

Jefferson County Sheriff Ackman Hart Ackman was seriously injured when his car collided with a Cortland resident’s vehicle on the highway south of Cortland Nebraska. He suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs a cracked shin lacerations and head cuts and is treated at Beatrice Lutheran hospital. Two penitentiary detainees named Gray were in his car and sustained only slight injuries. The other driver Mr Scott had two broken ribs and his wife was uninjured. The crash was blamed on Mr Scott turning into a farm lane and failing to see theAckman vehicle.

FERA Grants Diller Library Daily Service

Under the Federal Emergency Relief Administration plan, libraries may hire help including skilled workers. Mrs. D V Fanders will run the Diller public library 20 days a month and Miss Delno 10 days. The library is open daily except Sunday from 1:30 to 5 PM and 7 to 9:30 PM, with new books on the shelves and a forthcoming children's story hour.

Rev Frank Mills Injured In Lincoln Stars Auto Crash

Rev Frank Mills pastor of Union Church College View and secretary of Dwelling House Mutual Insurance Co. Lincoln sustains serious injuries after a vehicle crash near Arapahoe Nebraska. Initial report said right foot and ankle crushed possibly requiring amputation. later update noted he was holding his own with amputation not yet determined. He remains at Lincoln General Hospital. third toe of right foot later removed.

Charles W. Gaisford of Reynolds and Ruth E. Carmichael of this area were married by County Judge Noble in Beatrice last Thursday. A charivari dance honored them Tuesday. Ruth, a Diller High School graduate, and Charles, a brick mason and band musician, planned to live in Reynolds.

Mrs Tranquiline Taylor of Steele City Dies

Mrs. Tranquiline Taylor of Steele City died last week in Odell hospital after a period of poor health. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Steele City with interment in the Steele City Cemetery. Lyde Drullinger Word, formerly of this place, died Tuesday evening at 7:30 at her niece's home in Atchison Kansas at age past 92. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in Chester Nebraska with interment there in a family plot.
