The Fairbury election results show bonds passed with 382 votes for and 112 against. Chas. E. Hughes, Republican presidential candidate, will speak there at 2 30 P.M. tomorrow. A local item notes Esquithette Coats at Lpock's and a corn exhibit at the butcher shop.
Local business notes include Fires and Tubes offering a ten percent discount on tires and tubes for a limited period. Community updates report Mrs. J A Shuffler and sister planning a visit to Macon Mo and Iowa, plus travel news from Baker, Hutchison, and Roelfs among others. A Nebraska Dry Federation Flying Squadron campaign visit drew a large crowd with speeches by Rev Horan Dr Carriker and Gilbert Brown, as high school bands and dry yells followed.
A byline letter from Beatrice Nebraska dated October 19 1916 invites farmers near Diller to a free illustrated talk on Hog Cholera Control by U S Bureau of Animal Industry inspectors. The event at Mey City Hall in Diller is on Saturday October 14 1916 at 2 PM and will show virus and serum production and field work with results from sixteen counties.
The notice lists a 10 A M Sunday School and 11 A M preaching with a Christian theme and Acts chapter readings. Evening 6 30 P M Christian Endeavor and preaching are noted. The text urges full church membership attendance and poses questions about strong language against sin and divine power.
The notice invites the public to Methodist services next Sunday with 10 A M Sunday School 11 A M preaching on Power in the Inner Man 6 30 P M Epworth League led by Mrs Willer and 7 80 preaching on The Two Ways at Rock Creek with Evangelist Jas P Sullivan in charge. On Sunday October eight the children of Mr and Mrs J G Hilder hosted a surprise for their thirty fourth wedding anniversary. A sumptuous dinner followed by a good time. The couple received a cut glass water set and other gifts. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs George Hilder of Wymore Mr Joseph Garrett of Boise Idaho and Mrs Sarah Lambert of Ontario Canada.
The will of Mrs. Anna C. Diller was set aside after eight witnesses testified she was incompetent to dispose of her property when drawn. An administrator was appointed for the estate. Notice declared no appeal would be filed. The school notes report enrollments, a teacher trip to Lincoln, and upcoming events at the Diller School including an orchestra concert and a lecture by Dr. Chas. Fordyce with free admission.
Bert Etchison purchased five horses on Saturday to be shipped from Odell. Big preparations are underway for the Hughes meeting at Fairbury tomorrow afternoon. Tickets for the opera house entertainment course are on sale at Shutt's tonight. Mr and Mrs Vester Carmichael visited friends in Blue Rapids Kansas on Wednesday.
Coming Monday Oct 16 the La Delle Parente Troupe of Acrobats and La Delle Sisters contortionists perform at Diller opera house. High class artists advertise Clifton Brazilian Remedy Co. Admission is 10 cents.
