Remnants of Memorial Days Across Generations
Forty years ago memorial services at the M E church drew large attendance with GAR and WRC members honored. Decoration Day was rained out for cemetery ceremonies, while fifty years ago Steele City and Diller saw larger crowds and a grand parade led by the Diller Corner Band. The Diller events included a memorial address by OL Fowler and a community banquet, with music and patriotic programs throughout the day.
