Beatrice Social Guests and Atlanta Birth Report

Mr and Mrs John Carrico and Mr and Mrs Isaac Saylor dined Monday with Mrs W A Boggs in Beatrice. An eight pound boy was born Saturday May 5 to Mr and Mrs C P Bradley Gertrude Diller formerly of Diller in Atlanta Ga. Mr and Mrs C L Geers and children Hazel and Virgil visited last Sunday with their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Chester Weaver and their new baby boy.

Premium Pennsylvania hard coal on track for next winter

Cornbelt Lumber Co announces a shipment of premium Pennsylvania hard coal by rail in the next few days, inviting buyers to secure baseburner coal for the upcoming winter. Manager C. L. Geer at Diller Nebraska oversees the operation.

Local officials and residents visit Diller events

O. R. Jones a deputy state food and oil inspector from Fairbury was a business visitor in Diller on Wednesday. Mrs W F Myers and daughter Caveloa visited with her parents Mr and Mrs W N Sparks and other Diller relatives. The B B Kensington met with Mrs Ed Walken May 8. Seven members and three children attended. The next meeting will be with Mrs Lew Wehling May 22.

Kizers and Bedds Visit Lincoln Callanders on Sunday

Mrs. J. L. Kizer of Lincoln Mrs. W M Kizer of Schenectady NY and Mrs. Elizabeth Bedd and daughter Grace of St. Louis spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Callander.

Waggoners Return From Lincoln Visit With Relatives

Mr. and Mrs. Chas Waggoner returned from Lincoln after a brief visit with relatives. Their son Lynn and Alfred Mayborn, both at the state university, accompanied them home. Myrtle Evans 5 miles north and 4 east of Diller suffered cuts when a team ran away and wagon upset. Dr Diehl dressed her injuries. Frank Frisbie will lead Standard Oil at Diller after selling his harness business in Fairbury. They plan to reside at the Place property after the 15th.

Diller Weekend Activity Draws Crowd and Alumni

Mr and Mrs Dale Bugbee of Lincoln travel toward Diller to visit relatives and plan to teach in Honolulu next year. A large Diller gathering included trading, an auction by Farmers Store and J H Saathoff, a movie by local merchants, and shops staying open late. The Diller High School Senior class staged Educating Esther to a $1 12 gross with 20 and 40 cent prices, supported by a lively orchestra.

Western Kansas trip notes and farm visits reported

Dr and Mrs Claude Ellis return from western Kansas noting wheat near Bird City and Enroute. They visit Mr and Mrs w Will Ziebig and family site south of Kanorado. Willig farms a land section and a half with cattle. They spend night with McDonald family and Florence of Atwood. Weather mentions rough conditions and rain extending west to Atwood area.

Diller Churches Prepare for Mother’s Day Observance

Corn planting dominates farming around Diller as farmers expect about ninety percent of acreage planted by Saturday night if weather stays favorable. Ground is in good condition with many double mowers drawn by six horses in use.

Obituary for Martin Arnold of Harbine Nebr 1928

It pleased the Almighty God to take Martin Arnold born December 11 1894 in Lanham Nebraska son of George Arnold and Elisa Mueller. He was confirmed in 1909 by Rev J Schmalz. Full services were at the Reformed Church near Harbine with Rev A Dumin officiating. Burial followed in Chure Cemetery. The Arnold family thanks sympathizers in their bereavement Harbine Nebraska May 8 1928.

Mr and Mrs George Renz and Mr and Mrs Herman Sasse attended the funeral Sunday in Elk Creek Nebraska for Frank Walker age 73 a pioneer resident of Johnston County.
