Diller Community Club Plans April Meeting and Spring Event

The Diller Community Club announced a Friday April 2 meeting with an agenda including a program by rural school teachers Mrs Fern Hall and Miss Mary Elizabeth Frietag, a Border Phantom and Big Bad Wolf screening, and a transportation picture. Plans for a Spring Party at the high school gym were discussed, an orchestra is being contacted for dancing music, and an admission will be charged. The picnic committee has begun work on the fifty third annual picnic scheduled for August 19 and 20. all are invited to attend.

Diller pupils shine in county events and local notices

The Diller Nebraska district hosts district district speech and dramatic contests with Diller students earning multiple Superior and Good marks. Elaine Schauelle and Donald Romisch claim Superior and Good ratings in oratory and drama. Marilyn Clary eliminated in spelling rounds while other local entries excel. Obituary notes honor Erie Roelfe born 1861 died 1948 with funeral at Wagonser Home.

Pinochle Party Sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a pinochle party at the Legion Hall in Diller on Wednesday March 31 at 8 PM. Admission is 50 cents and includes refreshments.

Good Friday Services at St Pauls Led by Rev Lorin Wolff

Rev Lorin Wolff preaches two Good Friday communion services at St Pauls Church on March 26 with 9:00 am and 11:00 am communion hours and an 8:00 pm candlelight Holy Communion. Young readers and candle lighters participate. All members and friends urged to attend this solemn Holy Week observance. If unavailable, attend another church service is encouraged.

Woman's Club Nutrition Class At Weigel Home

The Diller Woman's Club hosted a March 17 nutrition class at Mrs. Earl Weigel's home with Miss Sorenson of the Red Cross presenting on foods and body health for all ages. Mrs. Hobbs of Fairbury accompanied her. A covered dish luncheon followed an all day meeting. Members welcomed guests and invited community ladies to join.

Gifts To Church Dedicated Sunday

At the first service of St. Pauls Lutheran church last Sunday gifts given by members were dedicated. A candelabra was given in memory of Mr. William Glathar by his wife Mrs J H Glathar. Five members presented a cross to the church. A new parish register and new hymnal were gifts from the Sasse family and the Sunday School class.

Birth of Susan Mae to Mr and Mrs Norman Moore

A daughter, Susan Mae, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Moore of Bell Gardene California on March 8. Mrs. Moore was formerly Gladys Garton.

Womans group dedicates gift and elects officers at meeting

Keyston Kensington Mrs Steffen presided over a Kensington and Missionary group meeting in which a dedication ceremony for the womans gift was explained through readings. Officers for the year were elected with Mea Richardson as President and Mrs Glathar as Assistant Vice President. Clara Allen won a contest.

Diller schools will begin spring vacation today at 3 P M and resume Monday morning at regular hours.

Harold Logan Tops at Breeders Sale in Columbus Show

Harold Logan’s yearling bull topped the Ab derdeen Angus breeders sale in Columbus with a $775 price, the highest of 60 head sold. Pete Wenz of Fairbury bought a two year old for $1230 as Band olier bred bull market momentum highlighted the event.

Local Legion Delegates Boy State Attendance

A Diller High junior, Herman Harding, becomes the first local youth to be chosen as a delegate to Boys State. The event, hosted by the American Legion, reenacts state government and offers civic training for selected youths. Local sponsor Jacob's Café supports the delegation.
