Pheasants Released Near Town From State Stock

John Hilder released about a half dozen pheasants on his farm east of town. The birds were part of a consignment sent to Gage county by the state game commission.

The primary to nominate two candidates for village trustees to serve two years and the school caucus to nominate four candidates for two seats on the school board for three years will be held at the city hall at 8:30 PM on Monday night March 21.

Double Wedding in Fairbury Nebraska 1927

Miss Mable Novotny of Diller and Mr Dan Schrieber of Fairbury wed at Baptist Parsonage Fairbury on March 2 1927. Immediately afterward Miss Anna Franzen of Odell and William Novotny of Diller also married by Rev William Park with witnesses. Post ceremony plans place the couples in Fairbury and on a farm near Gondicter and Mr Novotny’s sister and children noted in the fragment.

Beatrice man trades town property for Pluknett farm

Marten Fanders of Beatrice closed a land deal with Will Geisler owner of a quarter section six miles south and two east of Diller. The trade involved Geisler’s land swapped last fall for Lang ham area property. Fanders exchanged his Beatrice town property for the Pluknett farm adjoining his south.

The Womans Club met Tuesday evening with Scott Miller leading the program on Favorite American Story-tellers. Mrs. W F Clark presented a Bible story Uncle Remus was dramatized by Mrs D V Fanders, and Mrs Miller read an Indian legend. Juvenile segment featured Mary Elizabeth Gill with tales of St Patrick's Birthday and Miss Dora Duck, plus Scott Fanders narrated The Little Red Hen.

Suit for Damages Involving Jenkins Crooks Store

Cliff Crooks former owner sues Mr and Mrs em for about 20000 dollars alleging loss of merchandise from the Jenkins Crooks store at Fairbury which later sold to a Council Bluffs firm. First Beatrice trial ended in a hung jury. A second Beatrice trial set for March 14. An attachment of 15000 on real estate of the couple was ordered by District Judge William J. The Austins deny embezzlement claims.
