Scott Miller Wins Litter Race at Camp Funston Meet

Scott Miller, a Diller boy, and his partner won the litter race in 29 seconds on Cherry Tree Day in the Field Meet exercises reported in the Camp Funston edition of Trench and Camp published by the Y M C A. He also competed in a wrestling event and wrestled to a draw after 15 minutes.

Granddaughter Fern Cavett Taken For Emergency Appendicitis

Miss Fern Cavett was transported Sunday with her father L. M. Cavett and Dr H Bauguess to Omaha’s Methodist hospital for an appendix operation. The procedure, at 10 o clock Sunday night by Dr Jonas, left her in critical condition with a ruptured enlarged appendix and gangrene suspected to be due to poison. A double drainage system was installed and she is slowly improving.

Seven Diller High players depart Tuesday noon for the Lincoln tournament March 6 7 8 9 regarded as the largest high school event in the nation Over 1000 players competing Diller placed in Class E with Temple High Waco David City Superior Shickley and Tobias The community raises funds with many named donors expressing thanks for the athletic program support.

Evangelistic Services Planned Ahead of Easter

C C Atwood will fill the pulpit next Sunday and preach nightly except Saturday as part of a two week evangelistic series beginning March 17 and ending March 31. He spent 17 years in evangelistic work and has led thousands to Christ while helping erect 11 church buildings and placing 23 men in the ministry. Everyone is invited to attend nightly for inspirational and educational sermons.

Methodist Pastor to Lead Rock Creek Service Next Sunday

The pastor plans to attend Rock Creek for morning worship next Sunday. Sunday school attendance last week was strong despite poor roads and weather. The regular Sunday school session will be held again next Sunday at the usual hour. Members are urged to invite a friend who does not attend elsewhere. The March meeting of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society is set for Tuesday March 12 at 2 30 PM at Mrs Ellis home. Next Sunday services at the Presbyterian church announce union events at the Christian church and a 70 cent per member Home Missions appeal. Acting Pastor J. Wallace Larkin urges prompt payment to meet the $43.60 shortfall and notes Sabbath school has contributed $25 toward the $68.60 apportionment.
