Local notes on farming dealings and community visits

A broad roundup from the village: alfalfa trade, a Fairbury visit by A. M. Strawhacker, and a new farmers shipping association at Odel. Residents travel to Wymore and Ohio, while John Gretzinger quits dairy to join Pickard & Co. Church women plan an Easter fair and aprons are urged. News of local sales, road work, and Hattie Davis’s cholera-struck hogs.

Local Notes On Residents Visit and School Library Loan

Miss Irene Blauser visited relatives at Bextrice on Monday. G E Kimmel traveled from Fairbury Monday after moving belongings. Co Supt Harriss spoke with Diller teachers about loaning two hundred books for the Diller school library. Adam Gretzinger moved to the Roulston farm near Steele City. Mrs Bastian of Reynolds returned home after visiting Dr Diehl's family. Wood for sale at 1.50 per rick and fence posts, white seed at 2.00 per bushel.

Wolf Hunt Ends With Sale For $1.75 In Lincoln County

A lone wolf was killed in a circle hunt between Diller and Steele City on Friday in Ed Woods stubble field. James Weddle of Diller halted further raids after earlier shots. The crowd remained orderly and the wolf sold to J. O. Blauser for $1.75.

Church Services And Confirmations Noted

Bible school at 10 a.m. and C E at 7 30 p m were held. Seven additions to the church occurred last Lord's Day with six by confession and one by letter. Baptismal service to be announced next week.

Presbyterian Sabbath Program for March 8 1914

The morning service features a C. E. topic on how to prevent poverty with a question about life’s lamp. Evening service emphasizes the call to be steadfast and unmovable, abounding in the Lord’s work, with the note that labor is not in vain.
