Gertrude Lottman daughter of Mr and Mrs John Lottman underwent an appendicitis operation at Odell General Hospital on Wednesday forenoon of this week.
The agency handles subscriptions and renewals for newspapers and magazines. Customers may subscribe themselves, but commissions on renewals go to the publisher.
Mrs M E Hisaps of Omaha daughter of the late Anderson Bell visited Saturday at the home of cousins Mr and Mrs H A Bell south of town. Sparks' father is twin brother of Ian Bell. Weather notes report snow six inches and temperatures from 62 above in February to 14 below.
The residence of Mr and Mrs Pete Wenz nine miles west of Diller burned last Sunday morning along with most household goods. Officials suspect a defective flue caused the fire at the Ike Rhodes farm property.
Helen Green of Gothenburg Nebraska describes a fall on rollers last week that caused a severe fracture to her left wrist with both bones broken and splintered. She wrote to her father H. E. Green recounting the mishap after believing she was a skilled skater.
Miss Lucille Hansen, a graduate, attended the Blair Nebraska Danish Lutheran College homecoming on Friday and Saturday. A Friday banquet offered time to renew acquaintances, and the college choir, in which Hansen participated, performed Saturday evening. She returned Sunday evening after an enjoyable weekend.
The Diller Library Association hosts Vagabond Puppets from Wahoo Nebraska on March 17 at the Opera House. Marionettes perform Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves in four acts across fourteen hours with sixteen Persians, animals, and five young Wahoo ladies guiding the show. Puppeteer Corenne Placek, praised by the Omaha Community Playhouse, builds her own puppets and scenery inspired by Bohemian folklore. The event doubles as a library benefit and aims to rally community support. Laurence Newman and his family from Lincoln are visiting relatives near Diller this week.
Notices announce a March 15 1934 school district caucus at city hall at 8 o clock to nominate two candidates for three year terms and one to fill the A R Milow vacancy. Village caucus follows to nominate three candidates for two years and handle other business.
Miss Marjorie E. Lyle will leave Diller high school at term end to take a position next year in Alma Nebraska teaching music French and Latin. Alma, a town of 1500 with 150 high school students, lies 233 miles from Holdrege her home offering advancement and proximity. The Diller band faces the loss of a superb cornetist.
The American Reserve Life Insurance Company of Omaha shows assets rising from 1.523 million in 1932 to 3.468 million on December 31 1933 and in force insurance growing from 15.932 million to over 22 million. Raymond F Low heads the firm with Harold R Hutchinson as vice president secretary and director. This Nebraskan institution is described as sound and noted for the involvement of local individuals.

The community was shocked by the sudden death of Mrs. A. O. Richardson yesterday afternoon in Diller. She collapsed at the Grone home while the Richardsons attended the funeral of the Kunecke baby and died despite efforts to revive her. Her long illness had left her in frail health.
Four month old baby boy of Mr and Mrs Arthur Kunecke died Tuesday noon from pneumonia. Funeral held Thursday from the grandparents home Mr and Mrs Arthur Grone with Rev Drew officiating. Interment in Prairie Home cemetery.
