Beginning Monday March Sth the Dilier school opens at 9 00 with a noon break for one hour. Classes resume at 1 00 and end at 4 00. All students are expected to attend on time.

Dec 26 1944 action at Menil Belgium shows Sgt Clark as forward observer with Co E 884th Infantry directing artillery before communications failed. His actions broke enemy assault and saved Menil from capture. commanding officer commends his initiative intelligence and professional standards.

Soldier Burns Hospitalized After Gasoline Explosion

Mrs LaForest Fasnacht reports her husband in a E lind hospital recovering from burns sustained in a gasoline explosion. He is much better though his left arm and hand remain stiff. He notes he was very happy to receive mail from France, including pictures and clippings from the Ditler Record, which he asks his sister to keep coming.

Death of Gerd Heinrichs in Diller area

Gerd B Henrichs died Friday morning at his home southeast of Diller after a period of failing health. The obituary notes he lived in the Diller vicinity and passed away at his residence.

Army Reserve Diller to Report for Active Duty

Stanley Diller leaves Sunday for Ft. Leavenworth Kansas to begin active duty after serving in the Army Reserve Corps since last May. A telegram from Robert Deck Hiatt informs parents that he will enter training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Chicago. In Gilfarth Germany a list includes Nebraska native Noe Hughes of Steele City noted for breaking a German prisoner's leg. Noel Hughes is married to Marjorie Maw of Diller.

Diller Boy Royal Roskelly Serves as Demolition Specialist

Mrs. Lorren Stephens received a letter dated January 17 from Cpl. Royal Roskelly written in Burma. He serves with Aviation Engineers as a demolition specialist and is a former Diller boy. Verne R. Hubka, a V-12 trainee, arrived for a brief leave to visit parents Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Hubka before returning to Notre Dame.
