Miss Alice Line came home Wednesday after taking her sister Mrs. Clarence Steffen and Richard to Omaha. They will spend a week visiting her sister Mrs. Paul Beckwith and family.

Nebraska regent scholarships awarded to Gerald Close

Gerald Close of Diller wins a regent's scholarship at the University of Nebraska for next year. He plans to join the college of engineering. The 150 scholarships, worth about 70 dollars each, were awarded in May in an academic contest across schools.

Lincoln man returns home after days with friend

Howard J. Stotts of Lincoln, who had spent several days with his friend Glenn Long, returned Monday to his Lincoln home where he has worked in a local bank.

Free Movies at Diller Draw Large Civic Showing

A crowd estimated between 600 and 1000 attended Diller’s free Tuesday night screenings. The manager announced next week’s show moves to Thursday due to the July 4th holiday and hinted at future talking pictures. The free program is funded by local merchants in appreciation of patronage.

Diller Library Postpones Open Day to July Fourth

The Diller library will open Wednesday of next week instead of Tuesday July 4 for the holiday. Mrs. Chas Reinhardt had stayed with sister in law Mrs. Matilda Hauver who has been ill but will not Tuesday return to Lincoln.

Ben Behrends Hosts Summer Garden Party

Sunday afternoon June 25 at Ben Behrends' home hosted guests including Clarence Hiatt John Senior Will Behrends and families Mrs Line Mrs Witty Flossie Raymond Willis Clark Frank Cully Clarence Steffen Ray Green and spouses. Music featured Ben and Will Behrends on piano and a Saxette duet by Carolynn Rose and Norma. Mesdames Cully Steffen Clark Green and Flossie Raymond with Miss Flossie Raymond sang four sacred numbers, concluding with Came to the Garden with Him. Guests toured the garden, enjoyed ice cream cakes cookies candy and gum served by the hostess in the heat of a sunny day.

J N C club meeting at Mrs Romish home

The J N C club met at Mrs. Johnny Romish’s home on Wednesday June 7. An enjoyable afternoon included two contests won by Mrs Bowen and Mrs Albert Hubka. Refreshments were served. The next meeting is planned for July 19 at Mrs Joe Hiatt’s.

Frieda Kaiser Weds Orlo Geer In Ainsworth Nuptials

Miss Frieda Helen Kaiser daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred H Kaiser of Ainsworth Nebraska married Orlo R Geer son of Mr and Mrs C L Geer of Diller on June 24 at the Brandt residence in Ainsworth. Rev Melvin Brandt officiated. The couple will reside in Diller and were escorted with a small reception and a treat at George's cafe for fifty five guests.

Steele City July Fourth Celebrations Draw Diller Visitors

Lincoln residents Mr and Mrs Jorden Sandman and others visited family in Lincoln and Roca. Steele City townfolk drove to Diller for the Independence Day program with street parade at 12 30 band concert 1 to 1 30 baby contest 2 30 speeches by Kenneth Wherry and Chas Smrha evening acts dances and games plus Colliers Comedians in a tent drawn crowds from Diller and surrounding towns.
