First Wheat of the Season Brought to Local Elevator

Lloyd Royle reports the season’s first wheat brought to Farmer’s Elevator by Diekman Bros Arnold and Minard from north of town. They started field work Monday with 64 grade wheat, 13.1 moisture, 25 bushels per acre. Chester Schroeder also delivered 60 grade wheat, 14 moisture, from farms several miles north of Diller.

Steffen Home Hosts Triple Anniversary Dinner

A Sunday noon gathering at Mr and Mrs C R Steffen celebrated Richard Steffen and Sue’s second wedding anniversary and the 32nd wedding anniversaries of Sue’s parents Mr and Mrs N Fishwood of Dawson, plus Richard Steffen's June 22 birthday. Ilomer Fishwood attended. a special anniversary cake featured. Relatives from Diller attended the funeral of Joseph Greenwood in Fairbury last Thursday. Orlo and Virgin Geer and Chester Weaver served as casket bearers.
