Rev H H Pyche of Leigh Nebraska will assume the pastorate on the first Sunday in July under a recent arrangement. Rev Pyche Mrs Pyche and one teacher daughter will occupy the Green residence west of the church. The congregation has lacked a resident pastor since Rev Helms left two years ago.
The Endicott Methodist congregation invites former pastors officials and friends to a Sunday homecoming at the church. Rev Blough who helped build the church and parsonage will preach the morning sermon Rev Carmony a former resident will speak in the evening A basket dinner will be served at noon and a church history will be read during the day.
Frank Grone showed a 51 inch black snake killed near his porch. Missourian Rev. Proett identified it as rare for the area. Steele City Fairbury and Wymore advertise Fourth of July events with sponsors listed: American Legion in Steele City and St Michael Guild in Fairbury. Wymore backers unnamed.
Workers from Fairbury set a new plate glass in the Farmers storefront Friday. After finishing, a corner check appeared and spread diagonally across the plate. Another pane was installed yesterday with better results.
A line from the Sinkeys reforms claims they arrived home last Thursday and that the Mr began pushing prunes in a grocery store for his old boss who waited to take charge while he vacationed.
Arrangements are under way for the fifth annual band festival to be held at Fairbury city park in late August. The Diller band has been invited to participate as usual.
An executive committee has been appointed to arrange for Diller's 40th annual picnic this year. Some definite announcements will probably be ready soon.
Sunday evening services in the park will be conducted by Rev. L J Wolff Lutheran pastor.
Mrs. A. H. Colman departed Fairbury last Monday to join a party bound for New York City for a trip abroad. She expects to return in the latter part of August.
Director Wood leads the band in Monday practice as they ready for the Steele City parade on July Fourth. The ensemble rehearses marching routines and field drills ahead of the community event.

Mr and Mrs Elmo Hadley stopped at Diner on Monday while enroute from Lincoln to Steele City with their household goods. They will reside temporarily at the Ed Wright residence near the Presbyterian church and Elmo will work as a bricklayer in Steele City.
Dr and Mrs Viers live alone again with their children away. Rachel attends summer school at Peru State Teachers College. Serenus works in harvest fields, previously went to Lebanon Kansas to work for his uncle Viers.
Mr and Mrs Clifford Sparks did not travel to Cool Colorado last Saturday as planned. The cool Nebraska temperature may have influenced the decision. The Akesarben races in Omaha provide local context. Clifford is taking a vacation from the rural mail route.
In this vicinity farmers report a strong wheat crop and a fair oat yield. Many binder users are making headway though some fields are not fully mature. Combining is expected to start next week if dry weather continues.

Mrs Adeline Kennedy from San Bernardino California and her two sons Bill and Bob visit relatives across multiple states en route to California. They plan to include Black Hills and Yellowstone on return in August and stop in Pittsburg Kansas to see the Miller and Diller families. Kennedy teaches social science at Sturgis Junior High with a 63 member faculty and 1606 pupils. she earned an AB degree from Redlands University in February.
On a calm Wednesday afternoon observers noted vast clouds of grasshoppers in the air. Entomologist Prof Swenk of the University of Nebraska said the swarm stretched about 9 miles wide and 100 miles long likely moving from western Kansas across Nebraska.
The library will be closed on Saturday July 4th. A new book titled Bible Story Brook by Love and Seymour is now available at the library.
