Weather report notes a severe dry hot spell causing crop damage. The editorial desk received late morning items about visitors from Knowles California and local social updates mentioning Mr and Mrs Fred Stare and Floyd Hughes in Fairbury.

Behrens, 31, was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge in the death of Delbert Shipman, a 28 year old Marine veteran described as a Fairbury dog trainer who was killed when struck by a panel truck in Lincoln. Behrens was apprehended in Oklahoma City after using a different name. Shipman, a Purple Heart recipient, died in the March incident while employment prospects were noted.
The Villegeard held a monthly meeting with members Sabi Weaver Rose, and others present. Minutes from the last session were read. various bills were discussed including water district and pumping station insurance, bond for Village Treasurer, and labor payments.
