District court opens in Fairbury with Judge Messmore

Gas and oil truck owner pledges reliable service

O. R. Geer announces he has taken over the Wm. Henrichs gas and oil truck and will provide good service at all times. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Filley and Miss Lucille Dewey of Wyomore return from Peru where their son Hubert Filley will enter the State Teacher's College for the summer months after a trip to the World's Fair.

Mrs Ethel Bauguess of Detroit spent time with friends Dr and Mrs Claude Ellis en route to Grand Island visiting her parents Mr and Mrs J C Strausser. She stopped in Chicago for a short visit at the World’s Fair and also saw friends in Omaha and Lincoln for the Nebraska homecoming.

Diller Plans Free Outdoor Movie Nights

Diller merchants have arranged with E C Wranosky of Haddam Kan to provide the city with free outdoor picture show Tuesday nights in summer. There are no strings or contests, just bring your family and enjoy. Stores will stay open and everyone is welcome.

Will Build P W F Highway This Summer

County Supervisor Vitosh reports the P-W-F highway will be built this summer from the county line to No. 77 south of Beatrice with graveled surface from Fairbury to the county line. Graveling may wait until spring to let the grade settle and bids are invited for No. 8-S west from the town. A potential replacement of the crooked span over Indian Creek west of town is discussed.

Mr and Mrs Will Henrichs and Mrs S M Hughes visited Fairbury on Tuesday. Miss Grayce Myers traveled to Lincoln to see her brother Wm Myers and family. Helen Patton of Harbine cares for Mrs Mattie Henrichs who has been quiet poorly. Mrs Sarah Warman enjoys a visit from Mr Leslie Warman and family of St Paul Minnesota who arrived Sunday. Mr and Mrs John Carico drove to Falls City Saturday and stay with relatives and Mrs S M Beachy of Falls City who had visited their home returned with them.

Local Merchants to Offer Free Movies Midweek

Diller merchants will close Wednesday nights and stay open Tuesday nights to accommodate Free Movies shown nightly from next week. Cedar class of the Congregational church enjoyed a social at Mrs. Willis Clark's home after a picnic. Ice cream and cake followed a visit and music with guests Mrs. Clarence Steffen and son Richard, Margaret Logan, Wilhemena Behrends, and Norma Frances Green.

Mr and Mrs Frank Tucker of Denver Colo left Tuesday morning for Chicago to attend the World’s Fair. They were accompanied by his sister Mrs Cloyd Cully. Mrs Bell Robinson and daughter Meridith are handling home duties during the absence of their sister and aunt.

Editor Pearce Arrives in Chicago Views World’s Fair

Frank T. Pearce arrives in Chicago and visits his son Earl and family while touring the World’s Fair. He notes the vast lakefront grounds three miles long, unfinished buildings, vacant booths, and exhibits such as Science, General Motors, Chrysler and Firestone, Travel and Transportation, Indian Village, and Old Fort Dearborn. Pearce plans a Racine trip with Mrs. Fred W. Merriman before returning home.
