Ted Henrichs Wounded in Okinawa Two Purple Hearts

Marine Sgt. Ted J Henrichs was wounded May 14 on Okinawa and treated at a rear base hospital before transport to Hawaii and Oakland California. His left leg is cast and right arm bandaged. This is his second wound and he has earned two Purple Hearts and a Gold Star. He enlisted January 20 1942 and has been overseas since October 1943. His address is Ward 478B USN Hospital Oakland California.

Mr and Mrs Fred Frisbie and Donald traveled from Burlington to Boulder Colorado on Friday to be with their son and brother Norman who underwent an appendectomy.

Seven Silver Clips Used to Close Leg Wound

Ernest Jordesing sustained a severe leg cut Monday after boarding a motor scooter to ride home. Seven silver clips were employed to close the wound. He is struggling to move about as a result.

Jeanie Nicholson daughter of Mr and Mrs Joe Nicholson of Tobias Nebraska was opened for appendicitis Friday morning June 8 at Odell hospital. She is reported to be getting along nicely. Mrs Emma Fitting of Lincoln has been visiting this week at the home of her sister Mrs Dora Wobsforth.

Frisbie Family Visits Relatives in Beatrice and Diller

Mr and Mrs L D Frisbie and family from Campbell Nebr visited relatives in Diller and stayed with Fred Fristie in Beatrice. Leonard and the older children returned Sunday while Mrs Frisbie and the younger two remained for a longer visit.

Passing of William Brandt Ward in Liberty Missouri

The body of William Brandt Ward 73 was reported to Mrs H R Henrichs and Mrs Fordyce of Wichita Ravens as died of a heart attack on May 6 in Liberty Missouri. He enjoyed a birthday visit with sister Maud in Kansas City and played piano for the Lodge before his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday May 8 in Liberty Missouri.

Brother Liberated From German Prison Camp

Tech Sgt Andrew G Leuthold brother of Mrs Huttenmeyer was held prisoner by Germans from September to April 26. He and fellow captives marched on foot from February 6 to April 26 near the Poland border, facing hardship. He is resting near Le Havre France awaiting potential orders to return home.

Behrends Returns on 60 Day Prisoner Furlough

Sgt Eddie Behrends, captured crossing the Elba river and held as a POW, was liberated by Russians on April 22 and arrived Saturday via Burlington for a 60 day furlough with his parents Mr and Mrs William Behrends. He will report to Hot Springs Arkansas after the leave. He enlisted in 1942, served with the 359th Infantry overseas from March 1944, and was listed missing last November before confirmation as a German POW.

Navy man Patton visits Lincoln and Diller kin

Robert Patton home on a twenty day leave from the Navy visits his wife and baby in Lincoln before spending a day in Diller with his sister Mrs. Roy Casper and friends. He is joined by his wife and daughter Patty and by his mother Mrs. Roy Patton and aunt Mrs. Sick with her daughter. Mrs. Sick drives the group to Diller. Patton says he feels well but eager to return to civilian life.
