The Glorious Fourth festival occurred in Fairbury on Monday July 5 with special trains on all railroads, speakers of national reputation, and $1500 in fireworks plus $100 for ball games. The event is backed by the Commercial Club of 150 business men. Judge A C Boyle circulated a petition from Fairbury to place his name on the official ballot for county judge to succeed himself. he has served as county judge for several years in a non partisan office.
Prepared chick food for sale at J. D. Fanders. Dr. Claude Ellis will be out of town Thursday and Friday. Gage County board of supervisors will sit as board of equalization June 8. Mary Burkett has perfect attendance for the year. Cora Wright attended every day. Hazel Edgington also listed among pupils. C W Tonnemaker and family returned Sunday evening after a few days visiting his brother C H Tonnemaker and family on the Beatrice area farm.
Mr and Mrs Whitney of Topeka Kansas visited their daughter Mrs F L Spear and family on Saturday. Mr Whitney returned Monday while Mrs Whitney stayed for a longer visit.
Cubs and Beulah Avdéon previously residing with parents Mr and Mrs Harry Hodson moved to Odeh to finish the school year in the Diller palette schools. They went Sunday accompanied by their grandma Mrs Thos Copeland.
The Beatrice Express corresp describes scarce wheat and high prices around Bilis and Diller. Farmers in the area hauled scant loads to the Diller elevator, with some shipments under ten bushels, as the Wright Feed Company purchased available wheat for transport to Ellie-end.
