G T Mills advertises potatoes and pie plant with rain hinted. Freeman's in Fairbury features new furniture and rugs. Dr G H Newton of Fairbury offers eye ear nose and throat services. Wilt Bros. began threshing at Clarence Steffen's on Wednesday as heat persists and corn grows around the clock.
Frank Rain of Fairbury was chosen grand exalted ruler of the Elks lodge at Atlantic City on Tuesday. A daughter weighing eight pounds was born to Mr and Mrs Herman Diekman, 24 miles south of town, on July 9. Charley Kelley and his wife visited from Lincoln to celebrate the Fourth at the home of his father, D R Kelley.
Mrs Millard Gemeny began Tuesday a trip to Chicago to join her husband for a several weeks stay in the city.
Single comb white Leghorn cockerels offered at one dollar to one dollar twenty five cents each. Mrs Julius J Folkerts of Diller Nebraska reports the sale. Mrs Virginia Hale and her son Claude visited with her parents Mr and Mrs E S Dunn and returned Saturday to Lincoln.

The wife of Peter Rosenbaum died at their home in Diller on Tuesday after a long illness at age 80. The funeral service will be held today with plans to publish a full obituary next week.

Miss Carrie Linn, who had visited here with her sister Mrs Nancy Robertson and family, returned Saturday to Council Bluffs Ia.
Miss Ruth Davis returns to Peru to attend summer school after spending the Fourth of July at home with her mother Mrs. Harry Davis.

Citizens of Diller plan a reception for returned soldiers sailors and nurses at Diller City Park next Wednesday. The event includes a DeWitt Band, elm tree dedication for Oscar Mathias, a banquet at 8, a program at the opera house with Hon. M. L. Corey and a dance at Rex theatre with Life's a Funny Proposition.
F. E. Hale and his family came back Thursday from an auto trip to Colorado. Mr. Hale bought a quarter section of land four miles north of Paxton during the journey.
Mrs G W Carmichael traveled from St Francis Kansas to respond to word that her mother Mrs John Specht Sr is seriously ill. The notice notes the hospital visit and family concern.
Miss Nellie Gteen and Miss Crevla Hadley returned to Lincoln on Sunday after spending the weekend at their homes in Diller. They are both students at a Lincoln business college.
The Record acknowledges receipt of the 22nd annual catalogue of the Des Moines Still College of Osteopathy Des Moines Ia. Drs A F and E E Steffen formerly of Diller are members and E E Steffen is a trustee and faculty member teaching anatomy and pathology.
Mrs. Mart McCullough of Horton Kansas and Mrs. J. G. Packer of Wood River Nebraska had been summoned due to their mother Mrs Mary Suffel’s illness and returned home Saturday as her condition improved.
The obituary reports the death of Mrs. Specht at the residence of Joan Specht Jr, 14 miles north and 4 miles west of Diller. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon with Rev H W Wagner officiating and burial in Prairie Home cemetery. Obituary notice to follow next week.

Forest Hartzell purchased the old Zweifel 150 acre farm located 2 miles south and 3 miles west of Diller at a public auction last week. The purchase price was 101.50 dollars per acre.
The Rev. Harry Allen formerly of Steele City will preach next Sunday afternoon at eight o'clock in Pleasant View church and the George Riddle farm located four and a half miles south and one mile east of Diller.
The county commissioners accepted A. J. Hill's resignation from the county fair board and appointed F. W Steffen to fill the unexpired term of three years from March 8, 1919.
Dr. Claude Ellis presented stalks of rye grown on his Sicily township farm in Gage county. The stalks measured 7 feet 2 inches tall with heads about 7 inches long, illustrating the potential of Nebraska land.
Mr and Mrs W A Cherry and daughters Elizabeth and Margaret return from an auto trip to Valentine where Mr Cherry purchased a half section of land. One quarter is improved and the remainder is hay land.
Mr and Mrs John Gretzinger of Kansas City visit relatives at the home of his parents in the vicinity. John plans to return soon to attend an encampment of the Missouri National Guards to which he belongs, leaving his family here during that time.
Theo Davenport, an early settler from southeast of Diller, Nebraska, now residing near Chadron, Nebraska, visited old acquaintances Tuesday. He has prospered and shows little sign of aging since his last visit eight years ago.
An aeroplane touring the county stopped at Diller after Fairbury. It landed on George Henrichs aviation field and drew a crowd eager to see a real flying machine. After refueling, the pilot and mechanic prepared the craft and flown toward Steele City.
Rev. R. C. Locke to lead morning and evening services next Sunday July 18 with a full attendance urged from church members.
The Nebraska Epworth Assembly runs July 29 to August 7 at the usual site marking a “Victory Year” with peace since last year. Attendees are urged to plan to camp for full benefit. assembly booklets expected before next Sunday. The July meeting of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society is set for next Tuesday at noon and the pastor will serve at Rock Creek Sunday morning with evening services in town.
About 150 people gathered at the Zion Lutheran parsonage south of town for a surprise party for Pastor Otto Bergfeder and his New York guests. Rev Klinger and Miss A B Zipp spoke, the conyeration offered music, and the host expressed gratitude for the fellowship that will strengthen future cooperation.
