Lightning Fire Destroys Barn on Clyde Williams Farm

A large frame barn on the Clyde Williams farm southwest of Reynolds burned to the ground during a night electrical storm. Hay feed and some implements were destroyed, with an estimated loss around $3,000.

Calf-crossing crash injures four in Nebraska road mishap

On a rural stretch near Diller Nebraska a Chevrolet driven by Frank Warren with three Wymore coworkers struck and killed a calf crossing P W F highway 24 miles east of Diller. Warren suffered a sprained shoulder and facial injuries while the others were shaken but unhurt. The car overturned against a bank and was heavily damaged. A passing motorist transported the men to Wymore.

Diller reports Jerden Sanman entries as Republican aspirant for the 39th district representative seat in Jefferson County with no opposition on the GOP ticket. Sanman, a real estate businessman and World War II veteran, is likely to be nominated. Opposing F S Wells seeks re election on the Democratic ticket after serving in the last legislative session.

Storm brings heavy rain and wind damages local structures

A Saturday evening storm dropped one and fifty five hundredths inches of rain with strong wind and lightning. The wind mill at Wester Carmichael's, south of town, collapsed again after a prior twister, and buildings at Chester Noventy's east of town sustained damage.

Early threshing figures from Diller area reported

Sam Friday Paul Beckwith and Willis Clark led the first threshing near Diller. Friday yielded about 12 bushels per acre and with Beckwith sold on Saturday at 1.13 dollars per bushel. Clark sold Monday at 1.15 dollars per bushel.

Mrs Lilly Malissa Reed born June 18 1898 in Barneston Nebraska died July 2 1926 in Diller at 28. Survived by husband Harvey Reed two daughters Blanch Ella and Bessie Louise and a late child Malissa May. Also her mother Mrs Ella Griswold two brothers Jesse Powell and Harvey Powell two sisters Mrs Hazel Green and Miss Eugene F Powell. Funeral attendance included out of town relatives from Wymore Fairbury Plymouth Blue Rapids Oketo and Home City.
