A. M. Bruce of Farmville Virginia praises Bucklen's Arnica Salve for curing chronic piles and malignant sores after a long struggle. The note claims the salve heals cuts burns and wounds and advertises 25 cents at Spear's Drug Store.
Sunday schedule lists church activities with times for Sunday school at 10 a.m. sermon at 11 a.m. Epworth League at 6 30 p.m. preaching at 7 30 p.m. and an afternoon preaching at Rock Creek.

A large crowd gathered in Hartzell's oak grove south of Diller to mark the 130th anniversary of independence. The program featured a parade led by the Fairbury Band and Foresters, a declaration read, an address by H. M. Bushnell, entertainment including singing, dancing, vaudeville, and a balloon ascent that partly failed. Money from businessmen funded refreshments, and praise was given to the Modern Woodmen Lodge for hosting.
