Church item notes St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran near Diller with Supt W H Plager and Sunday school scheduled for 10 o'clock.
Rev. Robert A Helms presides with W. A. Snyder superintendent. Sunday School at 10 o clock. Preaching services at 11 a m.
Sunday School gathered at 10. The annual election of officers for the Methodist Episcopal Church lists Mrs. L M Cavett as Superintendent and Me Keith Hays as Assistant. Other posts include Cradle Roll Superintendent Mrs Quarter Fry Primary Superintendent Miss Bonnie Green Missionary Superintendent Mrs Clairarnett.
Kieth Hays recovers from flu and Mrs. Malissa Fanders was a flu victim on Tuesday. Lester Strawhacker and Bill Bond were transacting business in Omaha on Saturday. Robert Glather, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Will Glather Sr, has pneumonia. Mr and Mrs Starr left Sunday for Kearney where they plan to live for several months.
Card of Thanks expresses gratitude for postcards and handkerchiefs during illness. Ernie Fisher of Cassady, Kansas, visited with his father George Fisher and relatives and returned home Tuesday. The Collier Comedy Co. drew a near crowd with Nice Girls Dont and a Western play In Old Arizona was announced for next Wednesday. Ten cents and a merchants ticket admit anyone.
The Guide Rock Signal celebrated its 60th anniversary with a gold colored edition. Harry Vaughn remains owner and editor, delivering a locally valued paper to Guide Rock and surrounding communities.
Former Diller resident now in Fort Collins Colorado sends remittance and greetings to Diller friends. She says they have had the flu but are recovering and send best wishes to all old Diller acquaintances.
Mr and Mrs L H Findling were due back yesterday from a motor trip to Fairview Illinois to visit her sister Mrs Phillip Utsinger. They departed Tuesday a week earlier with Clinton Utsinger Mrs Chas Armstrong of Mahaska Kansas and Oto Carpenter. Foreman Fielder of Ellis cared for the home during the absence of the Findlings.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Southwick traveled from Endicott on Wednesday. Clark Fisher of Powell Wyoming is visiting with his father George Fisher and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Panlicek of Fairbury visited Sunday with her sister Mrs. Vernon Black and family.
The annual meeting of the Diller Telephone Co will be held in the secretary office next Monday January 16th with attendees expected to review company affairs and vote on outlined items.
Mrs Fred Starr orders the Record sent to her son John Starr in Tallulah Louisiana in care of the U S engineers.
Norma Louise the young daughter of Mr and Mrs Harm Hus mashed her thumb in a door and was taken to the doctor for treatment.
Virgil Sandman of near Harbine is slowly recovering in a Beatrice hospital after a tree his father rolled over injured his leg.
Sam Diller of Fairbury former Diller area resident visited Monday afternoon with his sister Miss Fannie Diller and brother J Smith Diller and family.
William Henrichs and his family moved Monday into the former Beckwith property. The house is owned by George Specht, once of Diller and now residing in Washington, Kansas.
Survey work recently completed along the P W F highway between Diller and Blue Springs in Gage County. Grading is planned before graveling from the county line to the Cornhusker highway, expected to begin early next season.
An 80 year old farmer four miles from town walked to town for groceries. He owns a car but chose to walk to save money and get exercise, illustrating frugal habits among rural residents.
More than 300 farmers joined the hunt in the Ellis vicinity but no wolves were captured. At Andy Jamison's farm two wolves escaped through the lines. A follow up hunt is planned for Sunday January 15 at 1 p.m. covering all of Lincoln township.
A county resident near Diller asked a county commissioner to supply a license plate for 1933 though he owned no car. The exchange touched on a county policy to refuse aid to anyone who owns a car or a dog.
The trial jury for Ted Wells over Chester Mason murder was sworn by 10 45 am Tuesday. The twelve jurors include eight farmers and eleven white with one colored, average age 37 1 2. Jurors stay in custody 24 hours a day and draw double pay. County Attorney Hubka prosecutes, with Jack and Vette for the defense. undercover witness Byron Kennedy testified first.
Mrs. Merle Carpenter visited at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs C L Geer. Henry Bettin living 34 miles south and 1 mile west of Diller is recovering from a large abscess on the back of his neck.
Friends and relatives are notified of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. De Vere Hare Nellie Frisbie at Brush Colorado on January 1st.
The N C S A club met January 4 at Mrs Ed Henrichs home with two absentees. Mrs Carrico presided, minutes approved, and officers re elected: President Mrs Carrico Secretary Mrs FT C Henrichs Treasurer Clifford Sparks. Vice President Mrs E L Loock. A Biblical contest winner was Mrs Roehrkassed. Jan 18 hostess Mrs S C Hutchinson. Also notes on a stockholders meeting and local deaths.
