Local flu cases and travel notes from area residents

Kieth Hays recovers from flu and Mrs. Malissa Fanders was a flu victim on Tuesday. Lester Strawhacker and Bill Bond were transacting business in Omaha on Saturday. Robert Glather, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Will Glather Sr, has pneumonia. Mr and Mrs Starr left Sunday for Kearney where they plan to live for several months.

Card of Thanks expresses gratitude for postcards and handkerchiefs during illness. Ernie Fisher of Cassady, Kansas, visited with his father George Fisher and relatives and returned home Tuesday. The Collier Comedy Co. drew a near crowd with Nice Girls Dont and a Western play In Old Arizona was announced for next Wednesday. Ten cents and a merchants ticket admit anyone.

More than 300 farmers joined the hunt in the Ellis vicinity but no wolves were captured. At Andy Jamison's farm two wolves escaped through the lines. A follow up hunt is planned for Sunday January 15 at 1 p.m. covering all of Lincoln township.

A county resident near Diller asked a county commissioner to supply a license plate for 1933 though he owned no car. The exchange touched on a county policy to refuse aid to anyone who owns a car or a dog.

Jury Seated for Wells Mason Murder Trial in Beatrice

The trial jury for Ted Wells over Chester Mason murder was sworn by 10 45 am Tuesday. The twelve jurors include eight farmers and eleven white with one colored, average age 37 1 2. Jurors stay in custody 24 hours a day and draw double pay. County Attorney Hubka prosecutes, with Jack and Vette for the defense. undercover witness Byron Kennedy testified first.
