Naturalization Act Change Hits Lincoln Case Hearings

Federal Court in Lincoln Nebraska moves to finish repatriation cases for native born women who lost citizenship through marriage before the new law takes effect January 13 1941. An examiner will receive applications January 1941 and a class for the Oath of Allegiance is set for January 10 1941. Relapse Reported After Appendix Surgery in Worthington

Lynn Waggoner who underwent appendicitis surgery last week in Worthington Minnesota hospital is not as well as earlier reports. After days of convalescence an infection appeared but the latest reports say she is improving and expected to recover, with an estimated 8000 turnaround noted.

Christmas Guests Visit Chester Area Family

Christmas visitors included Dr and Mrs Cecil Ellis and son Roger of Chester who stayed with Mrs Wohlfarth and Gretchen. The Ellises joined Russ Hays’ family dinner near Sicky Creek before returning to Chester. Reverend Clark conducted a funeral north of Fairbury and the service ended with interment at Alexandria. Reverend Clark and wife visited their daughter Mrs Simm on a farm near Alexandria. Reverend H H Pyche and wife spent Christmas with their daughter in West Point Nebraska and returned Thursday evening.

Esther Green Raymond Obituary Featured in Lincoln Area

Esther Green Raymond born May 26 1896 in Diller Nebraska died December 24 1940 at her Lincoln home. She taught in Diller and Stockham and married Volney Raymond in 1916. Survived by husband a daughter Mrs Jack Calnan Lincoln and son Richard. Funeral in Diller with church music and sermon. Extraneous note: car radiator explosion near Beatrice caused damage but no injuries.

Clarence L Eaton obituary and life recount in Diller

Clarence L Eaton born September 24 1886 in Thomas County Kansas. Son of Henry Eaton and Miami Cavett Eaton he lived in Diller Nebraska until 1904 then studied at Grand Island College and worked as a clerk in several cities. He served in 1918 in an artillery unit at Camp Jackson later transferring to headquarters and was discharged after the war. He died December 26 1940 at Edward Hines Veterans Hospital Illinois from throat cancer aged 54. He was a bachelor with half brothers Alva Cavett and L M Cavett as near relatives and nephew Paul Cavett of Chicago. Funeral services were at Waggoner Funeral Home with Rev H H Pyche and Mrs Elizabeth Hughes. burial in Diller beside his mother.
